STEPHEN KING AND MAINE'S SNAKE OIL

Sunday morning after hanging out in front of the Bangor Public Library in order to have WIFI to upload my last two days of DO NEWS I headed over to the home of my NEW couchsurfing hosts David and Olga.  What a wonderful and welcoming couple.  David is a Mainer and Olga is a Russian Mail Order Bride.  They have been together for years and happily so.  I was given food and fresh brewed coffee.  I could use a cup of now.  I haven't officially gotten up and out of my room yet. I want to get this DO NEW report done before I hit the road back to Massachusetts.  I have to write it.  It is FULL.  I have been busy.

While waiting for some young Russians from the nearby University to join us for lunch Olga brought me up the street to Stephen King's house.  I loved his not too scary fence. I can imagine he loves a little tongue in cheek humor.  How fun.

Back at the house we had a lovely fun lunch beginning with a toast of my very first Russian Vodka and homemade Russian food.  “Vashe zdorovje”  I loved the tomatoes with sour cream, meat and potato stew and cabbage salad.  We all had a wonderful time. I told the students about the DO NEW CHALLENGE and they asked if I had ever been to the BOG WALK.  It borders Bangor and Orono.  I hadn't been there so we all headed over for a late afternoon jaunt on its slatted wooden walkway.

Now if those DO NEWS are not enough add some more.  Who is in Bangor that I must see?  Well America's Lumberjack, Paul Bunyon of course.  I asked that we stop by to say hi on our way back to the house.  Poor Paul. He is no longer standing in a field with green grass all around.  He is now living in a construction zone for a new civic center.  I felt sad for him.  I wanted to give him a shot of real Russian Vodka but we had left it back at the house.  Perhaps later we all could toast him over another DO NEW drink for me.  Oh I have had Moxie. It is a classic.  But I was a kid at the time and I have never had it mixed with RUM. David made us some strong ones and we sat around the table in hysterics for the rest of the evening.  What a wonderful way to end a Sunday.

So this DO NEWS is not very well written but I still have not had my coffee plus I am rushing.  I hear people in the kitchen and it is a Monday morning.  This guest must get going and on the road so people can resume their weekday life. More on the flip side in Massachusetts.

A little WIKI about Moxie - The festival this year is July 14 - 17th - weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

MORE ABOUT MOXIE
It is a cure-all.  I miss the glass bottles.
