Kick back, chill out, recharge. I have been looking for but haven't found the correct music for this lovely non-repeatable New England moment. My netbook is void of Tom RUSH, Livingston or James Taylor, Carol King, Joni Mitchell and the like. I am opting to relax in quiet. I was singing "Rainy Day Man" out loud earlier in the kitchen. I stopped to spare the others. Right now it is so very peaceful and quiet except for the sound of the occasional falling rain. NICE!
Some of the others went out for ice cream a little while ago before goat milking starts up again but I don't DO much cow dairy or sugar. I'll stick with the goat dairy and maybe raid the refrigerator before they get home. SHHHH. This kitchen is superb and toasted artesan-made cinnamon bread with garlic chevre is calling to me. If I was staying much longer it could become an addiction.
So today I am cutting myself some slack and using the wet weather as an excuse, so much so that I am about done writing DO NEWS for today. Below I am going to post the lyrics to "Rainy Day Man" before a closing remark. The lyrics will give some design spacing around the photos plus you might like them, especially if you are a New Englander experiencing a rainy day. Yes copy/paste. Well I wrote that today was a NOT DO MUCH day. The dog and cats understand the need for chilling out. Sometimes I think they have much more sense than humans even if they don't like riding on bumpy roads.
"What good is that happy lie? All you wanted from the start was to cry, girl.
It looks like another fall. Your friends they don't seem to help at all.
Now, when you're feeling kind of cold and small, just look up your rainy day man.
It does you no good to pretend, child. You've made a hole much too big to mend.
And it looks like you lose again, my friend, so go on home and look up your rainy day man.
Now rainy day man, he don't like sunshine,
he don't chase rainbows, he don't need good times, no.
Grey days rolling, then you'll see him, I said empty feeling, Lord now you need him.
All those noble thoughts, they just don't belong. You can't hide the truth with a happy song.
And since you knew where you stood all along, just go call up your rainy day man.
Now simple pleasures they all evade you, store-bought treasures, Lord none can save you.
Look for signs to ease the pain, I said ask again, go on and pray for rain.
It looks like another fall. Your good friends they don't seem to help at all.
Now, when you're feeling kind of cold and small, just look up your rainy day man,
all I'm asking just to look up your rainy day man." RAINY DAY MAN - LYRICS BY JAMES TAYLOR
And that's it. I am going back to my book. I want to finish it before I leave on Friday so that I can leave it for Jen to read whenever she can grab some peaceful time. She likes the author too. For now my phone is unplugged for the rest of the afternoon. Don't call, don't speak, say not a word, just "listen to the rhythm of the falling rain."
How are you DOING with the the NEW DO - DO NEW CHALLENGE?
It is never too late to start.
You might like this Jackson Browne song - THESE DAYS. He wrote it when he was 16 years young.
Enjoy ALL your days. :0) Savor each moment.
PS: I think I am remembering how to be a New Englander. I guess the soul never forgets. But please don't let me staht drahpin my "r"s.

I did something NEW today and had a blast. Usually I hate driving on the highways (like 128, 93, etc in Boston area), but today I made myself get over it. I drove, (even in the HOV lane), from Byfield, (which is north of Topsfield, MA), to CHINA TOWN!!!!! It was exciting, challenging and rewarding. I had a motivating factor and am glad I took the plunge. Thanks for the inspiration Pat - now I can actually conceive of doing either that trip or others by car in the near future. :)
I drove into Boston from Byfield, MA for the first time!!!! Challenged myself and took the HOV lane straight to China Town for 'Bakery' delights. :) Thanks for the inspiration.
I think this is just WONDERFUL! You now have so much more freedom to discover. KUDOS to YOU!
